Picked this up whilst searching around for different things - something I'm prone to doing. Having had a few South African Sauvignon Blancs (not Mulderbosch) recently and not been impressed, I was a bit apprehensive. No need, it was pale yellow and a little thicker than most SBs but the distinctive grapefruit was on the nose (even with rhinitis). In the mouth it was considerably more gooseberry though. Suspect that it is not a long-living wine as it had already lost that zing (or maybe it never had it?) Pleasant enough and worth having in for the Spring.

I am trying to broaden my South African experience. Did you per chance pick this up at one of the big chains, e.g. Oddbins, Majestic, etc?

PS: if you want the quintessential German Riesling QPR, Oddbins has the Dr. Loosen 2002 "Dr. L" for about six pounds right now. It's quite good for the price. Also more of a summer wine though.

cbmac - no it was from a local distributor, Bablake Wines They do deliver but the website is not very informative. Best off asking for a catalogue.
