Let start by stating that this was my favorite wine in recent memory. 93-94 pts and a lower-case "wow!" for me.

Out of the bottle, you could see the concentration in the deep purple color of the wine. A nose reminiscent of Pomerol -- all fruit in luscious harmony, some of which I could not even identify. What I did get was rasberry, cherry and and blackberry.

The fruit continues on the palate with pleasing intensity and richness. Definitely one of those wines that hits you with multiple waves of flavor as it moves through the mid-palate and powerful finish. The experince brings you right back to the glass for more.

I shared this at Christmas dinner with my father and brother who were both heartily impressed. My brother who refers to red wine as "sleep in a bottle" was always the first to refill his glass. I'll make him a convert yet!

Technical details: A blend of 60-year old vines Carmenere, Merlot, Cab, and Malbec out of the Apalta vineyard in Rapel Valley, Chile. Casa Lapostolle's flagship's bottling w/ Michel Rolland consulting.

I'm glad I have one more

I tried this wine at VinExpo. Very well done, but for $50+ cost, there are better values out there. jb Rating 91.

Not the best price - $53

I have seen it for less in other markets (mid-40s) though.

Maybe not the best QPR but it hit the right notes for me.

I'm glad you liked it, DdB. I haven't had a bad wine from Casa Lapostolle yet.
