| | 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Syrah, 4% Malbec, 3% Carmenere, 2% Petite Verdot, 1% Aspiran Bouchet,
Ruby purple, powerful nose of cassis and black fruits with that Maipo herb/spice/cedar/tobacco thing (I can always recognize it in the Cabs from here but can't seem to put my finger on it) with some decent oak spice. Full body, moderate complexity, acidity and tannin. The palate leads with an ash, cedar herb/spice flavor with the big ripe black fruits to follow with more oak influence. Balanced. 87pts.
Though the name actually means "Southern Cone", I hate the name of this wine as it seems as if they are trying to be smart by making it sound like connoisseur.

To me, it's almost like the blend you hint at above but sometimes with a dash of dried pepper flakes and sometimes dark roast coffee (especially in Don Melchor). I sometimes notice similar aromas in Maipo Carmenere.
But as for this wine, IMO, it's consistently a great Cabernet value that I would highly recommend to those out there who are looking for a decent, everyday drinking example of this varietal.
