| Cellers de la Cartoixa is a very good Priorat producer responsible for FRA FULCÓ, a top bottling made of 60% Carignan. Excellent Priorat minerality and gobs of fruit, much praised by RP and rated usually in the low 90s. Currently the whole portfolio has undergone a number of major changes and now they bottle a Garnacha-dominated wine as well. I have not tried it yet, but it doesn't seem to play in the same league as the superb Fra Fulcó. They also released a white for the first time (is thst the Montsalvat? I can't remember its name); I think it comes in 50 cl. bottles though it's not sweet. A Rhône blend with White Grenache and the like. Poorly reviewed by Spanish critics--but I wouldn't give much credit here, as they almost never seem to like White Grenache...
Castillo de Monjardín Chard'02: not tried, either. From Navarra, a very consistent producer of buttery (& very oaky) Chards, their regular bottling should be very cheap and not bad, but beware of the 2002 vintage for many Spanish whites in the area. Just a few miles east of Navarra the whites came this year awfully dilluted.

First time in my life I hear of these; cannot exclude the possibility they're export bottlings.
Now, sorry that wasn't very helpful... BTW I only found this by sheer chance; I think there's a "TN Requests-Worldwide" section that would have turned a faster response (though unlikely a more accurate one, having tried none of your wines: If I get to try the Priorats I'll post TNs, if you do, please post, OK?)

| Petey, I just attended a Winebow tasting of their Spanish wines today. I can recommend the following...
The Castillo De Cuzcurrita Senorio de Cuzcurrita 2000 was very good. Probably the best red wine at the tasting. They have it listed at $144 a six pack. I'm sure you will have to pay more for it. Good mouthfeel, bright raspberry fruit and nice oak integration.
The Vidal Soblechero Vina Clavidor Verdejo 2002 is a much better Rueda than the one you guys have on the list currently. It was the best white of the tasting showing surprising weight for a Verdejo, crisp acidity, melon and grapefruit and good length.
The Cellars de la Cartoixa Montsalvat they poured was the '00 and it was very good. Definitely worth putting on the list. Fine Priorat (70% Carignan and 30% Garnacha) It had nice black cherry and blackberry flavors. Some earthy notes and a good finish.
Skip the Tinta Fina by them. The unoaked Chard was ok. The Reserve Chard was a butterball. Yuck!
Hope this helps.

| | So, where does that Castillo de Cuzcurrita Señorío de Cuzcurrita 2000 come from? I mean what D.O. is it? | | | |

| | Wow, that's good news, she's brilliant! The name sounded at first like an export label (too colorful) but maybe it's just the owner's caprice or a concession to tradition. I'll look that up here, thanks. | | | |
