Tasted March 19, 2006 at home with a dinner of Braised Ox Tails as part of the Wino Depot Tasting With Friends event. Purchased locally at Costco for $15.99 per 750ml. Opened and splash decanted for 30-45 minutes before being served in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Purple to dark purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of leather, scorched earth, black currants and a little blueberry. Flavors of black berries, black licorice and a touch of mocha. Components seemed fairly well balanced overall, should resolve nicely over time. Value is agreeable. Not a bad little wine for the money. Drink now with a little decanting. Should hold with little to no improvement for a few years at the minimum. (88 pts.)
