  • 2004 Montes Chardonnay Alpha Special Cuvee - Chile, Aconcagua, Casablanca Valley (3/18/2006)

Tasted March 17, 2006 at home with a dinner of White Pizza as part of Tasting With Friends. Purchased for $15.29 per 750ml from a local retailer. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Weiss Wein glass. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of citrus, honeysuckle, pear and yellow apple. Crisp flavors of yellow apples, cling peaches and a bit of steely, minerality. Seemed a little light on the acidity, sugars and alcohol seem in check. “OK” value, mostly on a QPR basis. Drink now but might want to hold at least a bottle for a year to reassess at that time. (87 pts.)
