Purchased at Costco for $12.99, from the back label:

CLOS DES ANDES
*An Argentinean Sensation*

"Clos des Andres, from Bodega Poesia, is the latest addition to the prestigious stable of acclaimed winemaker Hélêna Garcin and Patice Lévêque, which includes Clos L'Eglise, Chateau Barde-Haut, Chateau Haut-Bergey, and Chateau Brannon."

"The Vineyard, which was established in 1935, is planted solely with original Malbec vines. Mendoza's rich vine growing soil along with French winemaking traditions capture the essence of "teroir" in every sip."

"The grapes are allowed to grow naturally, and are hand-picked and aged in French oak barrels during ten months. THese are all parts of the manual process which contributes to the supreme quality of Clos des Andres."

My notes:

They wine dark, vibrant purple color, much like a Petite Sirah. The nose offers generous blackberry and plum notes, along with minerals and a healthy dose of oak. Fairly full bodied on the palate, with substantial tannins taking center stage. Despite the big tannins, the wine has good fruit and is well balanced, and delivers an interesting creamy, mocha note toward the medium finish. All in all a good value, 88 points with room to improve if the tannins integrate a bit more with a year or two of cellaring.
