Always esapes me how this wine seems to fly under everyone's radar.

Light, brick/cherry red color, very clear, not too leggy. Soft oak and cherry on the nose, w/hints of spice and leather. Warm cherries, raspberry, and spicy oak on the palate, w/a warm, creamy texture. Nice length and body in the finish, needs about 45 mins. in the decanter to show its best.

87-88 pts., not a stunner but holding up well for a 9-yr. old Lebanese wine. $35 and certainly worth it for the experience.

Agreed. This wine usually reminds me of a cross between Bordeaux and Chateauneuf du Papes, with characteristics of both. Sounds weird, maybe, but it's interesting and enjoyable enough to attract a fairly large following internationally. Worth a try for all wine lovers.

TJ, it's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, mainly, with some other Rhone varietals thrown in as well. A unique wine from Lebanon.

Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen the '96 yet, but don't mind trying another vintage of Musar. I haven't had one more than about 8 years old, but I understand that they age particularly well.

The label didn't give a breakdown of the cuvee, but ingredients included Cinsault, CS, Merlot, and I believe Grenache. Think of the lightest PN you've seen in a glass and lighten it up another notch - not what you'd expect from those varietals.

Really? Wow, that'd be something to see. I'd be a bit taken aback by that I think. As in" WTF is wrong with my wine>!"

I have not had the 1996, butprevious vintages were not extremely light . I think of this wine as medium in weight, though this vintage may be different from previous ones.

Interestingly, the '96 is available here now (I'm going to pick one up very soon) at about C$60, and there is also a library release of the '81 for C$170. I'm not sure I'm up for trying the latter.

Maybe my 'lighter than the lightest PN you've seen' is a bit of an overstatement, but not far off for this bottle. The '94 I had last October was reddish-bronze w/significant bricking. Certainly agree w/you mid-weight assessment. FWIW, I paid $35 for the '96, and the stash of '97 near my abode is priced similarly. W/a mixed case, I could get these for around $30/ea.
