| From San Antonio, Chile. Medium, clear ruby, but showing some sediments. At first intese strawberry, raspberry and cherry, later evolving to spice and lavander, with a bit of mocha and vanilla. Light tannins, although present and balanced. The spice in the finish is very pleasant, at least for my taste. 89 pts. Not the best wine I had in January, but it was my WOTM since I was surprised to see this level of Pinot Noir in South America. I'm amazed to see how good are the wines from San Antonio, specially considering this is only the 2nd or 3rd vintage from the region and 2002 was just a regular year in Chile. Wonderful Sauvignon Blanc and very interesting Pinot. This is right now one of the most exciting new regions in Chile, producing elegant, cool climate wines - I see it as very similiar to New Zeland in climate, but the wines have a very interesting minerality in S. Antonio. | | |
