From Mendoza, Argentina.

Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon from M. Roland and six other partners.

Dark ruby/black colour to purple rim. Aromas of currant, plum, cassis, vanilla, raspberry. Medium-full bodied with alcohol and black fruit. Soft, integrated tannins, showing little structure. Short finish with red fruit. 86 points (11/24/2004).

I had this about two months ago and had similar notes. It showed a tad better though (medium finish, a little more complex) and I thought it might improve somewhat with time. I gave it 88+ pts.

I think the problem was the peer group it was served with. Kind of tough to go up against a 1990 Beaucastel, 1995 Quintarellia Alzero, 1992 Chapoutier Ermitage La Pavillon, etc.

I've got 5 more bottles, and will drink them over the next couple years.

It was up against some tough competition alright...

I understand what you're saying. After reading your TNs on the Quinatarelli and the Beaucastel, I'm surprised you gave any other wine a rating higher than 80!

Actually, if you note the scores I gave wines, there was a definite gap between the top wines and everything else. They were just *that* good!

Dark ruby/maroon colour. Lots of fat, thick, slow legs. Almost sheets the glass. Aromas of alcohol, black licorice, blackberry, currant, and mulberry. Lush, full-bodied wine with plenty of blackberry, raspberry, cassis notes. Soft in the mouth - shows few tannins and a lot of alcohol. Drier on the finish, with black fruit. Not sure if this will ever come together since it's so soft and manipulated. 86 points (12/18/2004).
