| Purchased for $18. Deep red, slightly opaque, no sediment. Nose a mixture of sharp red fruit such as red currant and cranberry, with light tones of darker fruit such as blackberry. Mouthfeel more substantial than suggested by appearance, but tannins were soft and light. I decided to not decant this due to its already agreeable acid and tannin structure. First tastes were chewy with some red cherry, blackberry, and a relatively short piquant finish of red fruit and a hint of passionfruit. Intermittent waves of smoke. Overall, the tastes were erratic and not pronounced and layering was disjointed. A worthy experiment, but an 85 at very best. Nice to vicariously travel around the globe.

| | I've had a few Israeli wines and they were really, REALLY bad. I wanted to like them. I think the last one was something called President and it was a sparkling wine. Well, I think it was supposed to be sparkling. It was putrid. It actually made some of the NY wines taste OK by comparison. Being Jewish and with relatives in Israel, I really wanted to like their wines, but the best I've had were bad. The worst were undrinkable. I don't claim to be an authority on Israeli wines, but my experience hasn't been good. | | | |

| It is funny, I have a former employee who I am still friends with who went to Israel a few years ago and she had some Israeli wine while she was there. She said she found a few she liked, but, then again, I think her tastes differ a lot from mine, plus, she had no points of reference to frame them around. Several months later, she attended a wine thing at my home and I think the wines I had kind of floored her. I wonder what she'd think of those Israelli wines now. | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| Board_O: That's my point. I really want to try/find some that are drinkable.
But, I have been running into some Kosher Wines that are drinkable (lately). And, I heard that the quality of those is improving...

| | The Tishbi Reserve are not bad - had the Merlot and Cab, the Cab being better. Other than that, haven't found many either, which makes it difficult given that we have some very traditional friends who invite us for Friday nite dinner and won't serve anything other than Kosher with dinner. | | | |

| rjs, Take Champagne, there are a number of Kosher houses. LCC very kindly provided me with a list and a thread link. I'll see if I can find the link.
To all and sundry- are their many Israeli wineries?

| | I think there are a good number, but nothing like even Australia or NZ. However, few make very good wine. | | | |
