| I loved this. But it is atypical because of its' complexity and its' age.
One? Is this the recently released Rare Calliope (WA-100 pts see 8/03 issue) or the Calliope from 8-10 mths ago (99pts 10/02 issue)?

| | All I wrote down for this one was 'toffifay' -- anyone remember that candy? This was one dripping sticky concoction that was a little overwhelming and concentrated. I haven't had enough of these to really fairly rate it. I could see that it was quite complex and it could be quite awesome. I just have no real point of reference for this stuff. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| I believe it is the 99pt version. Not that I think there is a tremdous difference.

| At first I thought this one had too many coffee notes for me. Then coffee turned to toffee and all was well with the dessert wine world for me.
This wine is the definition of a "stickie".

| Thanks t
I thought that this was the Rare by its' supreme molasses like concentration. Sweet but never cloying, the complexity could only be derived by long aging. The only other Oz wine I've had that tasted like this was the Rare Chambers Muscat. A superb stickie. 98 pts
Very much appreciate you bringing this in.

| Tasted at the Vitis Vinifera and jonnlisa dinner in Denver on Sunday, December 28, 2003.
Not tasted blind.
The only thing I have written down for this one is “Wow.” Other tasters used more colorful language, such as “Holy ___” (insert scatological reference). A stickie that everyone should try at least once in their life.

jb just sold me 6 of the rare calliope muscats. Both my dentist and I are smiling. We had these at the annual vc dinner w dessert. If the rare is what you had, I second your comments.
My WOTY. 98 fricking pts.

| We had one of these at the Pittsburgh offline, and it was delish! I was really chuckling because I was checking out Bobby, our server, making numerous tasting runs of this stuff. He was a sweetie fanatic, and a nice guy to boot.
Rev, I am down to my last one.

| | If you guys like this stuff wait for the Rutherglen chapters of Torbs Trek - the 2004 Victorian Tour Diary. That section will be up in about 3 weeks on torbwine. Wine with not only "wow" factor but some with double "wow" factor! | | Cheers Ric www.torbwine.com | |
