'89 J. F. Kimich Forster Mariengarten Riesling Beerenauslese Rheinpfalz

This is probably the only TN I'll write where I run out of room in the Subject line (unless I taste a TBA...).
I received this wine from a Riesling-loving friend of mine, and my wife and I opened it last night as the weather was perfect outside for sitting on the porch and sipping a sweetie.

The color of the wine looked like a strong brewed cup of English Black Tea - very dark and amber, cedar-colored. Wonderfully refined nose of caramelized fruits with butterscotch. Freshly viscuous and bright flavors come out on the palate - while this wine was sweet upfront, the finish did not have the sweetness of the midpalate. Interestingly, the sediment on the bottom of the wine was white and very mealy-looking.

Refined with moderate complexity, it was drinking well - and judging by the color, perhaps on it's way down from its peak. Still, 92 pts - a wonderful experience.
