    WIML93+,WA89-93,WS97

Tasted April 23, 2006 at Winetexs’ home in Austin, TX. Served from 375mml bottle. Opened and served immediately in a sweet wine glass provided by Winetex. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of orange slices, apricots and maybe some nutmeg. Thick, unctuous flavors of orange marmalade, cream, apricot and honey. Another excellent wine from Lafaurie-Peyraguey, I’m going to rate this one just a hair behind the 2001 which I rated 94+. What a treat it’ll be to open the 2001 and 2003 side by side in 10-15 years. Considering you can still pick up this wine for under $40.00 a bottle per 750ml I’d say the value is highly recommended. (93 pts.)

The 2001 is better but the 2003 is close.

It had some well-developed citrus notes but seemed lighter in acid than I like for long-term aging. (92 pts.)

I actually own both of these but have only tried the 01 as of yet...I found the 01 to be fabulous - but less flamboyant (lighter/less dense) and not quite as monsterous & over the top (& pure nirvanna!) in the mouth as either the Rieussec or the Suideraut (the latter was drinking best - but very close & likley a preference thing - when I last opened these perhaps a year ago...).

I too am looking foreward to perhaps trying these side by side...the LP is the ony 03 I bought other then the La Tour Blanche...and I've bought no 05s...I've just found them a bit too pricey and I bought heavy in 01s - prior to the increases!

Steffan P's Birthday Dinner - Old World Gems (34th Street Bistro, Austin, Texas): Very nice Sauternes on the very young side. Lower in acid and lighter in structure than the 2001. (91 pts.)
