| | I just love this stuff! Something like 90% Grenache, the wine is quite sweet, but with substantial tannins and excellent acidity. A serious dessert wine, despite the whimsical name, I still have no idea how to predict it’s ageability, but my sense is that it might just age quite well indeed – though keeping my hands off in order for that to happen will be extremely difficult, as it offers so much pleasure now! | | | |

| Eric,
Is this stuff red, white or blush (maybe red and white stripes).
Is it late harvest, ice wine, fortified, or what?
(I know I could look it up but it's more fun here)

| | Davidn, it is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha. They halted the fermentation by adding brandy, which accounts for the residual sugar and the high (20%) alcohol level in the wine. It is sublime. | | | |

| So it is fortified which also means it is red.
Thanks.
Actually I wonder, does Core make any white wines?

| I think the 2003 is 90% grenache and 10% mourvedre. Not positive but I don't think he added brandy to halt the fermentation although that's a common technique. It's pushing the 20% abv you mentioned but it's got less RS (not all that much according Dave, forget the precise level) than I would have guessed from tasting it.

| Al, I was just making it up as I went along to keep it fun. No brandy.
The new whites are the 613 (56% grenache blanc, 13% rousanne, 31% marsanne) and the b.core (57% marsanne, 43% rousanne). I didn't get the Spring mailer for some reason so I'm not sure if they are on there or not.

| So it's not fortified
Core is always at the Santa Barbara Wine Cask Futures tasting and I guess I should chat with them a little more this year. The only stuff I bought last year was the Hard Core. I'm not on their list.

| | I am a fan of the b.core based on the barrel samples. | | | |
