Cost ??? TJ Rating = 92

I am finally getting around to posting TNs on this. I had this at the VC Rocks at Equinox DC Offline.

This was the second to the last wine of the night. I think we were all felling pretty good. But still, this sucker woke me up and wowed me. A really nice golden yellow color. It dripped an unctious bouquet of honeyed apples and peaches. It was thicker than I expected and coated your mouth well when consuming. My senses were flooded with everything that I smelled plus faint bits of orange and something else I can't find the word for. A really wonderful finish.

I thought this was the best of the group of 4 or 5 98's I tried. Jeremy gave it a WOW 96 pts. Please see here:

BTW, several Euros on Squires' site are upgrading the '01 vintage Sauternes/Barsac comparing it in some cases to 1921...well before my time.

While in many locales these will be available at decent prices, in many areas including mine they will not be either; TJ, if these are not regularly shipped to your area stores, buy futures.

Good to know Dr. T. Good to know. Given the opportunity to try this again, perhaps maybe after not so much wine prior to it, it may have rated even higher.

I saw this at Total Wine's Maryland outlet (called Corridor Fine Wine) this past Friday for $65 for a 750 ml. A little pricey, but even so I almost pulled the trigger. I figured I better take a quick look around first before I scarf it up at that price.

BTW, where do you get yours via futures, Dr. T?

Sam's Wine in Chicago. I buy 1/3 my wine from there, 1/4 futures from there (rest at McArthur's and from local guy) and Vino Me sends them to me. After July 1, they will ship directly to VA and so will everybody. Don't know about Maryland. Moreover, he buys me other stuff at unbelievable prices eg Ciacci P Brunello 97 (96 pts) for $40.00,'98 Haut Brion (97 pts) for $120.00, '01 Prums Auslese and Spatlese at $20.00.
Raed his posts on the WS site.

Chicago is a USA Mecca for wine retail.

Saty away from Total Wine unless they have their mega coupuns. It's a rip off.Go to McArthur's instead
