| Sherry González Byass PX NOÉ V.O.R.S. (30+ years old) 15,5% Alc. $30+
Tasted BTG (3 ISO glasses) at the tasca on Saturday after the meal. Impressive black-iodine color, and gorgeously recognizable Noé aromas of raisins, dates and figs, toffee, roasted coffee and a light solera touch. Viscous and not even alcoholic (ISO glass, cool) this is truly caressing in the mouth, velvety and perfectly balanced in its sweetness. Endless finish. 94+

| Yes, this is a non-vintage of certification VORS (30+ years old) and decidedly available in the US. WS gave it a 90 pt. rating which is fairly absurd IMHO as it ranks this wine with many that are just plain good. In the US I've heard people refer to this as "consume by the thimbleful" stuff but if you find a good bit of dark chocolate and keep a shot of insuline handy there is no problem in polishing a bottle among 4-6 in the course of a long Spanish sobremesa (après-midi). Heressy comes to mind when you hear "pour this over vanilla icecream." There are cheaper versions for that sort of thing. This is something otherwordly, and not so expensive if you treat it like Rutherglen stuff (one bottle fills 15 ISO glasses, but your guests will reach for their guns in order to get the long-dripping empty bottle)...Hope you find it. Tell me if you do. | | | |
