| | 1999 Kracher Muskat Ottonel Trockenbeerenausles Nummer 4 -- this is from the "Zwischen den Seen" series, not the "Nouvelle Vague" series; a gorgeous golden-amber colour that almost shimmers; huge, very floral muscat nose, like a bouquet of flowers sitting in a bowl of pear and orange compote, if you can imagine what that would be like; very on thick in texture but with good balancing acidity, rich mandarin orange and preserved pear flavours, hints of framboise/raspberry, absolutely palate-filling and very satisfying; extremely long, sweet, fruity finish. Very impressive. Around 94-95 pts. I appreciate and applaud the magnitude of this wine, but I have to say that I much prefer the Chardonnay and Welchsriesling wines from this producer; I find the Muscat tones just a bit too much for my taste. | | | |
