| 1998 Château de Fargues Sauternes (WIML93+,NOWA,NOWS)
Tasted March 26, 2005 at an offline so brief comments only. Opened and served immediately in Spiegelau Authentis Sweet Wine glasses. Straw color on this baby, clear hue throughout. Attractive nose of roasted almonds, honeysuckle and orange zest. Very pleasing flavors of honey. Crème Brulee, apricot and orange foam. I like this wine, like this wine, like this wine. I can’t wait to see where it goes thus explaining the plus sign after the rating. Drink now if you must but I’d hold and revisit later. Recommended. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. |

| This may be the best recently-released, unrated Sauternes in recent memory. The best part is that all three bottles I've purchased have been this good.
- 1998 Château de Fargues - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes (3/26/2005)
Ecclectic Easter Tasting at Asti Trattoria II (Asti Trattoria, Austin, Texas): My notes consistent with the previous bottle. This is terrific Sauternes. Must buy more. (94 pts.)
- 1998 Château de Fargues - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes (3/9/2005)
93-94 points. Great nose with pineapple and other tropical fruits and creme brulee. Good body and a very long finish. Still very young with loads of acidity. These will probably hold up for the long haul - post-five years. [$45 for a 375ml; Opened for a week and improved for three days then downhill after that; Still drinkable at six days] (93 pts.)

| I'll be stopping by Specs tomorrow or Wednesday to nab three or four of these unless someone has a better connection. Thanks for turning me on to this little sweetheart. | | | |

| | From 375mL. Medium-yellow colour. Aromas of vanilla, honey, white flowers, and jasmine. Full-bodied, thick, and spicy, with honey, apricot, and cream notes. Long finish, 45-50s, with replays from palate. 93 points (11/19/2005). | | | |

| | WOW! Most 98s (other the the Rieussec) that I've had were a bit thin...I imagine this is drinking real well now.. | | | |
