| Notes from vintner Michael Wenzel: "Ruster Ausbruch is the highest level dessert wine that can be reached within a year. The 'Am Fusse Des Berges' comes from grapes which are planted on different lies within the Ruster chain of hills, which is where the name comes from ['Am Fusse Des Berges' translates to 'at the foot of the hills']. The wine features a very fine botrytis note accompanied by apricot notes. On the palate there is a very fine balance of acid and sugar. It is already very drinkable, but will show its real potential with cellaring, or, more “ripening in the bottle." Now it is still very elegant. The sugar, the acidity, the alcohol are well balanced. It is concentrated on one hand, but on the other has a great drinkability. So it is not just sweet but also has complex flavors and mouth textures and is therefore a drinkable sweet wine. In 2001 we were able to reach top quality by very strict selection. It then spent 12 months half in steel tanks and half in used oak barrique."
from Wine Enthusiast magazine: Despite being a blend of Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, this sticky-sweet dessert wine doesn't have the complexity of Wenzel's other Ruster Ausbruch (made from only two grape varieties). What you get here is pear, pineapple and honey at impressive levels of sucrosity.
from Beverage Testing Institute: Yellow-gold hue. Complex toasted hazelnut and spice aromas follow through on a rich full-bodied palate with decadent texture, tropical flavors, and long toasty rancio finish. Spectacular.

| I was asked on one of my other tasting notes to include the price of the bottle, so I am now doing this for all of my TN's.
This bottle retails for: $52.00
