1972 Toro Albala Pedro Ximinez

In half bottle was quite exotic. It color and viscosity look like 10W-30 motor oil. The nose is bright raisin, dates, molasses and maple syrup. It is extremely sweet and plump completely coating the palate with flavors of black sphinx dates, caramel, crème brulee, glazed almonds and pecan pie. It has a terrifically sweet and lingering finish but surprisingly balanced despite such a strong alcohol content of 17%. This wine could last forever in the half bottle, as it seems it has been trapped in a time warp for 31 years already. It is an exotic and sugar pleasing treat. -rv
