From 375ml. Golden yellow in color, initially on opening shows tight lemon, pineapple, honey scents, and what could only be decribed as mineral oil on the nose. Poured off two glasses and into the fridge for a couple hours. This afternoon (the Montrose put me out... ), the medium bodied de Malle shows as a youngan who has loads of potential, but definately needs some cellar time. Plenty of honey, white flowers, light citrus on the nose, but it shows some sweet bug spray as well that isn't bad, but needs to fill out into something else...The most oily '01 I've had yet, I believe, with lemoney fruits dominating and at this point it doesn't reach the middle tier of the '01s I've had so far. Finishes long and of course the excellent balance promises a good future. Will see again tomorrow if time can coax a little more out.
Right now 90-92 point range.

Finished tonight. The wine has put on a little weight in body, but still drinks very young. Some of the bug spray has blown off and a nice honeysuckle lemon has emerged. The oily character has reduced as well. Nicely balanced, but still doesn't reach the heights of some of the other mid-tier. Still very good though. 90+
