| | I'm not really good with drinking windows but I would put this wine in a category with the '89 and '95 in terms of its structure. I would imagine that this wine has 10 to 15 years of positive evolution ahead of it - it tasted young. Hope this helps. | | | |

| I think the 1997 can actually drink very well right now. I don't think that it will improve over the next 10 years; at least not that much.
This stuff will come to fruition around 2022. It is similar in structure to the 1967 and I do remember how wonderful it was in 1992. If you are in your 30s I would lay down a few bottles now. | | | |

| From a half bottle: Rich, medium gold color, ripe nose of orange and lemon oil with a touch of oak, integrated on the palate with citrus, pineapple and almond flavors, with the characteristic Yquem spice, very thick, with tears that take 30 seconds to fall into the glass, medium to light acidity. Brilliant. Minute long finish. 95+ points.
A week later, the remaining half of the half bottle kept corked in the fridge: Full and rich on the nose, with tangerine and lemon scents, along with a bit of oak, full and rich(er) on the palate with tangerine, orange, almond and spice flavors (like good pipe tobacco), with a bit of dolce de leche, perfect still, no decay, with a lime tinged acidity to the finish. Clearly 96-97 points. I don't know what would make this a better wine. Perhaps a little lightness on the palate as the acidity seems low, but I like rich sauternes. Success in the fridge seems to indicate long life...You can certainly enjoy this now from a half bottle or hold 20-30 years. | | | |
