I bought 2 cases of 1/2 bottles a few months ago. Glad I did.

This was number one on my list as well but I didn't place an order until today. Let's hope I get it.

Nope. I placed two orders: 1 split case of Rieussec and 1 split case of 3 other Sauternes. They confirmed the split case of others but cancelled the Rieussec and told me "they will let me know if they can fill it later at the new price". Like I didn't expect that to happen!

I did manage to secure 3 x 375s of Rieussec locally so that I'm not completely shut out.

I cracked one of my stash for the Capital Cork Dorks last night. I didn't take detailed notes, sorry. Light straw in color, very pretty nose of apricots and white floral. Surprised me how elegant this was in the mouth, I expected a little more power. Superb balance, and I do mean superb. Picked up just a hint of an edge that needs to mellow with age as I had my second glass. Solid acidic structure ensures the wine doesn't cloy. I will head to head this and some others when I get my halves, but my initial impression is this wine is not at the level of Climens, but it is damn good! 95+ points.

With the possible exception of a couple of profound eisweins (e.g. '01 Donnhoff) this was perhaps the greatest sweet wine I have ever tasted. Forget individual aromas and flavors, this wine was all about perfect balance. The fruit and hay/vanilla elements blended so well with the textural elements that it was like drinking but not feeling as though I was drinking. Think about that perfect golf shot where you don't even feel the club hit the ball. That's this wine. I have five more and cannot bear to not drink them, nor can I bear to drink them. It is the ultimate quandry. Amazing stuff. I can only hope that the rest of my '01 Sauternes (Suidurat, Coutet, LP, LTB) are half of this wine.

100 points from a guy who does not give points!

I have a bottle of this on the way. I'm stocking up big time on the 01 Sauternes. I saving up for the 01 D'Yqeum, that has to be mindblowing.

Yeah, the 2001 Yquem should be pretty good. The problem will be that the price should be mindblowing also

What is the price that you have seen locally for the 375's? (Price bought after ratings & futures came out).

Just picked mine up today. It is now priced at $75 for a 375 ml. That is well over double the price I paid on futures.

All of mine are in finally. I have 6 x 375 and 1 x 750. I wanted more 750 but the well dried up quick.

Yikes! That's triple what I paid on futures. Sheesh. Maybe I should sell at the going rate.

Good decision, RF. I just had this last night and it was great. Btw, I picked up 2 750s of this from dpsoner a few months ago @ $100/ 750mL. Don't know if he still has any at that price.

So, are these the wines I missed at the Herb Lyceum? Damn. I saw your post on the "what are you drinking lately" thread. Nice line up. Too bad I could not make it.

Yup. It was a great event. The food was surprisingly good, as well. We really missed you!

That is nearly double the price I paid for 750 futures.

While I have not received them, this represents a nearly 4 fold price increase volume to volume from futures to retail.

Whom on this board said that Sauternes prices hardly ever rise over time. Wrong-o dong-o this time.

I paid about $40/750 on futures (which are now in, I need to let K&L know where to send things).

That would be JW1. Typically he is correct on this point, Sauterne typically does not appreciate in value at a very good rate. Perhaps things are changing but this is a small snapshot in time so I wouldn't bet on JW1 being wrong on this, at least not yet.
