Well last night a friend was in from out of town and it turned into a great opportunity to break open my first VP of the fall season. Why not start with one of the best! Not the best of notes. Two years ago, I tasted a bottle of this SKWID generously provided which I LIKED VERY MUCH but thought showed a little too young, last nights bottle served as just entering full maturity and WOW, what a beautiful wine. Still very dark in color, but showing pretty crimson, just beautiful red fruits, and liquid velvet mouthfeel and balance, wow, the balance! Not one stitch out of sync here, acidity, tannin, fruit, alcohol, all perfectly married to compliment the other, just one hell of a nice port, we drank the whole bottle. 98+ pts.
