$18CAD.

Deep garnet/purple colour; opaque. Aromas of raspberry, cassis, and chocolate. Full-bodied, delicious LBV with the palate following from the nose. A little hot, but it smooths out with time in the glass or in a decanter. Drink this while waiting for your VP to age. 87 points. (08/02/2003).

Is this different from Taylor Fladgate?

I've had a '97 Taylor Fladgate LBV going for the last week or so, and it's flavor profile is exactly as you describe. It's very soft, as well.

No Seaquam, the Taylor is the same as the Taylor Fladgate. I just shortened the subject name.

Did I mention that I've been drinking this chilled during the hot weather? OK then - it's fabulous and I don't feel guilty as I bought litres of the stuff for only £9 each.

This just started showing up at my local Costco for $14 a bottle. I've had it at a restaurant and was impressed by the flavors. I think I'd better pick up a few bottles before they disappear.

I've had several bottles of the 1994 LBV - I enjoyed it, but it tasted filtered to me. All things considered, I find Quinta do Noval's unfiltered LBVs to be the best of the LBVs.

Absolutely agree, jaimetown. I like the '97 Taylor, but the '97 Noval is markedly superior, and well worth the few extra dollars.

the noval was actually cheaper when I got it. Too bad they are out.

a little "hot" is right, i just had a glass for after dinner at a new restaurant and i was a little disappointed with it. it was either a bad or old bottle or just not very good.

maybe i should just stick with vintage ports and enjoy it as i hate it when you leave with a bad taste.

oh well

I'm a big fan of LBV Port. I think it provides a great aray of flavors for a Port that doesn't need to or can't sit for decades. I had some stupendous 94 LBV's most notably from Noval.

You also can't complain about the prive of LBV versus Vintage Port.

1998 is over here now but I don't have any room to pick some up. There's also the much sweeter Graham's 1997 at the fantastic price of £7 per bottle. I tend to alternate them but keep peering at my mini vintage collection and thinking that I should crash them rather than the LBVs.

Hey ho - life is full of drama.
