1994 Dow's Vintage Port (375 ml) -- great vintage, great producer, great powerful wine; extremely young and tight, even after a few hours in a decanter doesn't show much on the nose without a lot of swirling and searching, but there's deep dark fruit and flowers that eventually emerge; in the slightly-drier Dow's style, there's powerful fruit, presently drinking like reduced, unsweetened blackberry juice, intense, rich; long finish with massive tannins and some heat. Almost 95 pts. and a long future ahead of it. This isn't a wine for tonight, but I'll tell you, with a couple of Monte Cristo cigars, this makes a real statement in your mouth... even the next morning!

Seaquam.... Had this several years ago and it was truly memorable. I had it as easily 96 pts or better. Thanks for the updated notes. I have this one on my radar to purchase more if I can find it at a good price.

Thanks for the notes! This is also one of my favorite ports and one of the best from that great vintage (1994). I have consistantly rated it 95-97 points. Interestingly, I have found that my whole bottles rate higher for me than half bottles.

Not had the 1994 but I wouldn't be opening it right now anyway even if I did. Dow is such a long-lasting Port that even the 1983 that I had a few weeks ago was struggling to break its voice.

Thanks for the notes though, I will keep an eye out for any options on it.

Ron, that price probably isn't that bad these days. Recently I've been seeing 750's around $75 to $80 and 375's have been priced around $50.

That's a tough one around here. There's a guy locally to me in Tewksbury who until recently specailized in port only because that was his favorite . Unfortunately, he's getting out of the business and taking all his port with him! Just recently WIne Library had 750's of the 94' Dow for $75 or $80. They just got 750's and Mags of 77' in but you'd have to check the price. I've picked some up at private sale. For recent vintages I've been finding some good pricing in NH especially on Taylor and Fonseca during sales. Dow in NH is high though. the 375's of 94' are there now for $55/btl.
