| 375 ml dk inky ruby color Uncorked for about 9h By then, most of the initial hot nose when first opening had subsided Beautiful, rich, med-full body, elegant notes of prunes, plums, dk dried fruit, and some spice Luscious mouthfeel, dk fruit, prunes, plumy, vanilla, initial sharp attack of acidity, well integrated fine tannins, well balanced, great degree of complexity, finishes mellow with the acid subsiding, dk fruit and silky fine tannins come through, 35+ sec All I have to say is WOW, it was a mouthful 93+
While I started to drink this a few sips at a time with the intention of saving some, a friend and I were so captivated by this port that we finished the bottle before heading off to dinner. It was worth it. I was truly surprised that this relatively young port showed so nicely at this time. Perhaps the 9+ hours that the bottle was left open at room temperature was all that it needed. In addition, perhaps the bottle size may have allowed the essence of this port to be appreciated earlier. Anyway, it was great and I would seek it out again, even at $40/375 ml. | | | |
