| 2005 Curran Grenache Blanc - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (8/22/2006) Tasted at Amazing Grapes on August 22, 2006. Who knew this wine would be so good? Wonderful aromas of peach and lychee, the latter of which carries through on the palate. Medium-light body. Nice acidity and finish. I really have nothing to compare it to, this being my first grenache blanc. But I can say that this is one of the best white wines I have had in a long time. A truly delicious wine! (93 pts.)
A few days later, I opened up a bottle at home. Here are my impressions upon opening a fresh bottle:
2005 Curran Grenache Blanc - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (8/26/2006) Same notes as before, but this time I detected elements of gooseberry on the nose and through the palate. Not just a pop and pour, this wine actually improves in the glass -- you could even decant this wine -- or (if properly sealed and stored) the next day. (93 pts.)

| | The two previous vintages were pretty good as well. Kris Curran did nice things with this wine. | | | |

| 2005 Curran Grenache Blanc - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (9/29/2007) WIML90-92
Tasted September 26, 2007. Opened and served immediately. This wine regardless of vintage to date is a favorite. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of just a touch of diesel early on giving way to some wet stones, flowers and a mix of yellow fruits. Flavors of apricots, yellow apples and white peaches. Medium acidity, light to medium body. Drink over the short term. (91 pts.) | | Joe ----- Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |
