| 2004 Peay Vineyards Chardonnay Estate - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (6/11/2006)WIML90,NOWA,NOWS Tasted June 11, 2006 at home. 14.1% alcohol. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Rot Wein glass. Light yellow color in the glass, fairly clear throughout. Nose of pears, yellow apples, crème brulee, passion fruit and some nutmeg. Flavors of green apples, pineapple, mineral, a little lime, maybe some light notes of pineapple or other tropical fruit. Crisp, almost sharp acidity. Everything seems to be in balance overall. I see no reason why this wine shouldn’t be drank over the next few years. I’ll likely blow through mine by the end of 2007 at the latest. Based on the direct from winery $45.00 a bottle price I paid I’d say the value here is recommended. | I tasted this on 6/13 - two days after you did - and all that extra age made a big difference - I found it to be a stunning chardonnay!
Smoky/leesy/toasty/nutty aromas on top of rich/ripe/deep fruit with a distinct note of tangerine/citrus. In the nose this is a dead ringer for a Marcassin. The richness carries over into the mouth where the depth of fruit is balanced perfectly with the acidity. Beautiful stuff.
Richard
[Full disclosure: I sell the Peay Vineyards wines although I don't have any of this at the moment. While I normally don't write about wines I sell, this was too good to ignore - go find yourself some now!]

| | Richard, I am in complete agreement with you - this is one of the finest domestic Chardonnay's I have ever tasted. | | | 2008: the end of an error | |

| As wiml matures his taster also matures. Not only is he a "tough" grader he has also tasted one hell of a lot of different wines and is almost obsessive about making notes on them.
I tasted this wine last week and thought it was very very nice and gave it what I think is a very very good score: 90 points.
This wine was made by Vanessa Wong. When it was first released late last year my first bottles I had were a strong 92 points. I don't know if the difference was in the wine or in the company I drank the other bottles with.

| I've already downed 3 bottles of this wine, and the my average score of the 3 is just under 93 points. I love this wine, and expect it to continue to improve over the next year or two. Fortunatley, I have enough to last me that long! | | | |

| I think that this is a wonderful wine. I am thrilled that Fred didn't take his two bottles!
Note to self, continue thinking of excuses for TJ and Capitolkat.

| - 2004 Peay Vineyards Chardonnay Estate - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (6/25/2006)
wow. this was a great bottle. cloudy yellow in color. consumed over 4 hours. (so long because the finish was so good) stone peach, nuts and a little lemon/lime. finish with almond-like flavor and lemon curd. mouth watering acidity.
the finish on this was such that i was enjoying sipping it, savoring the long finish and then surprising myself even 60 seconds afterward with a run of my tongue over the roof of my mouth for even more. It's making my mouth water thinking about it now.
loved it. (94 pts.)

| According to Wine-Searcher (basic version), the best price is $44.89. Maybe the Pro version has a few better prices. | | | |
