James,

I take it you will be bringing my two on Saturday evening? (No TJ, I'm not planning to open one then.)

Who wants some extras? I bought TJ's 4 on the way to work! Sorry James, per Alex, I thought that you were sold out.

I am good for both sets of four if there are no takers in the DC Crü. I should have just kept my mouth shut until I heard from JT. But if anyone wants a bottle or two out of the collective 8, that would help!

2003 Ramey Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay - Carneros, Napa Valley, California
Vivid nose of lemon, pear and minerals. Bright, crisp, almost spritzy lemon oil acidity on the attack and deftly balanced with pear, green apples, and lychee flavors that turn viscous on the mid-palate. Oak spice increasing on the back of the palate with a touch of sweet butter leading to a long, expansive finish. S93 4/11/2006

We had this wine again last night with results similar to previous bottles, though a bit below the very best 2 or 3 we had. About a 94-95.

We had this wine again tonight with steamed lobsters. It was coinsistent with previous notes, but just a notch below the best bottles, maybe a 94.

FYI: WS rated it 87 points (I read this weekend).

And, here we go again: Parker 94 points. I think most here are with Parker (on this one).

I am thinking a lot of bottle variation with this wine. I must of had 8-10 of these over the last couple of years. Most bottles were just awesome. While some bottles, like the bottle last night, was average @ about ~87-88 points. We had a bottle about 4-6 weeks ago & that was awesome @ about ~93-94 points.

The bottle variation continues: this last bottle 07/01 was in the high 80s. The bottle last night, 93-94 points. In any case, no need to hold.

That must explain why the 3 times I have had this wine, I had no idea what people were so excited about.

The bottle variation is becoming comical @ this point. I mean you pull 1 bottle you have a great one, you pull another like tonight & you have a mid 80s wines. And, I am not exaggerating it is the point of 1 for 1. Tonight another mid 80s wine. :-(

Tonight...crisp, citrusy, not overblown. Great weight in the mouth and balanced, with citrus and buttery green apple flavors. I'd say 90+ points.
