Aromas of tropical fruit, flowers, citrus, spice and slate. Medium bodied with good intensity. Toasty elements with more tropical and citrus fruits, spice and minerals. Nice.

Between 92-93, perhaps not as good as the previous bottle. Although very good the 2002s are light on the acid that makes Kongsgaard chards superior in good vintages. The 2002 seems similar to the 2000 rather than the 2001. (92 pts.)

A complex mix of tropical fruit and minerals. Definite wet stone in there. Alcohol kept in check. A very high quality wine that is drinking nicely now. Don't see this aging as long as previous vintages. Drink now-2009. 94 pts.
Beta testing a new signature.

I just realized I'm down to my last bottle of this wine. They've been very good wines across the board.

Somewhere there was a discussion about how this wine was falling apart.  Couldn't find it (bad search, bad search...).

Last night's bottle was not good.  Not flawed but just bad.  Here are my previous notes, notice how each bottle is not as good as the first.  There was another bottle consumed on 2/19/06 which was about 92 pts.

Not flawed or defective but seemed just over. I agree with notes that this one has fallen off the cliff. Way too soon for a wine of this scale. (86 pts.)

Light gold in color; On the nose no overt fruits other than citrus rind with smoky, vanilla notes from the oak. Lots of mineral notes in the middle. The palate showed that not all of the acids have been fully integrated into the wine. If typical of a Kongsgaard chard this should happen and the wine will hit on all cylinders. Very good wine with potential for improvement - how much is the question. This wine did not last long. [~$75 on release; Recommend decanting for 30 minutes and serving at a slightly warmer temperature than most chardonnays] (93 pts.)

I think it was in the 2007 Kongsgaard release thread ... here: http://www.vinocellar.com/WineForums/tabid/53/forumid/17/postid/351902/view/topic/Default.aspx

We took a bottle of the '02 Kongsgaard Chardonnay with us to Kauai and it showed very nicely.  Very rich flavors, with lots of tropical fruits and a great pairing with fresh Hawaiian sea food.  We've had 2 good bottles in the past month, so I'm hoping that's a good sign for my remaining bottles.
