2001 Spotswoode Sauvignon Blanc

Wow. Easy to drink like lemonade. A super "bright" SB that would be great with anything in a heavy white cream sauce. Brought by a friend so only got a small taste but I'm going to buy some. Mikey likes it!

Agree with you. 1 of my favorite all-time Blancs. But, where are you going to buy it? Hard to find unless you are on the Mailing List.

I can believe that. This is the 1st year that I ever saw it in a store (here in NJ, Wine Library). When I came back in a couple of weeks, it was all gone.

Sign of the times. But, I see a lot of Wines that I never used to (in the past).

Edit: Edited the name in the Title so that the Search picks up the correct spelling.

Usually I drink these the same year that I buy ‘em. But, left 2 bottles purposely as a test to see if it can make the grade the following year.

Results: Still a pretty good Blanc. Notice that I say, pretty good blanc. Usually, not the adjactive that I associate with this Wine. A word like great, & 1 of my all-time favorite blancs comes to mind. But, this lost something, some fruit, body, complexity, etc…

So, my advice on this: drink/enjoy this great Vino upon purchase. No need to hold @ all. Not made to age.

But man, it hits the spot on an 80deg, humid day. This is the pinnacle of blanc. Exactly its purpose, to be consumed on such days.

Next blanc up to bat is 02 Cloudy Bay. Looking forward to my 1st ever Cloudy Bay (thank you MudPuppy).

Will be interesting to see how Cloudy Bay stands up to Spottswoode & Araujo (2 of my favorite Blancs).
