| Looks like they got back on the beam after a disappointing '00 campaign. For those who don't believe in decanating a white, this will change your mind, if you pull the cork now. Much better after an hour.
Paired with pan roasted swordfish with sundried tomato and cured olive compote and rosemary/chili oil.
Started out with a slight effervesence and moderate citrus nose. Muted, but pleasant nonetheless. (Probably chilled it a few degrees too much).
Glass number two started to bring forth pineapple, honey and lime.
Glass number three really showed the butter with a touch of oak.
Hold at least 6 months, or decant. Don't over-chill. My score: 91 pts. Acquired as part of the Club shipment so I don't know the price. I assume it can be had for around $25, in which case the QPR would be a "B". | | | Beta testing a new signature. |

| JIMMYV: Good to hear. Big fan of this Wine (for the $$$). 1 of the best chards for the $$$, no doubt. I was actually VERY curious. Thank You. Will go back to this 1, for sure.

| JIMMYV, I'm looking forward to stocking up. I found the 2000 to be a bit disappointing, especially after they put out one of the best 98 chards I've had (for around $20). | |

| LCC.. This is a special chard for me. Some of the grapes that go into this blend were growing right outside the owner's cottage at Landmark, where Mrs B and I spent a week of our honeymoon (in 2001)! | | | |

| OK budman. Now I've got this image in my head of you getting tanked up one night and going outside to "water the bushes". Ahhh. The terroir of a "special" wine.
BTW, Mrs. V and I stayed at the cottage this past July. So I guess the '03 vintage will be our "special" wine. | | | Beta testing a new signature.

| JIMMYW... cool beans! I loved that place. Quiet, off the road, and cozy. How long did you stay there? | | | |

| Buttery with subtle citrus aromas plus pronounced EtoH. Flavors of tropical fruits (papaya?), fig, vanilla, and woody spice. Tense acidity makes it interesting, but also overpowers a bit on the finish. Nice wine, but I think it needs a couple of years to come together. 89 points.
PS. Drank the wine and wrote this TN prior to seeing this thread -- decanting this wine might probably would have resulted in a better experience. | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards

| | Golden yellow colour. Aromas of vanilla, oak, pear, white peach. Full-bodied, creamy, with pear, vanilla, and spice. Not overly buttery. Moderate-long finish, ~35-40s with pear and spice notes. 90 points (06/23/2004). | | | |

| | This wine for me really needs to either be decanted a half hour before it starts giving up the good stuff. | | | "It's better to have your enemies inside the tent pissing out, then outside the tent pissing in." -- Lyndon Johnson | |

| Fred,
We had it open for an hour and drank it over the hour after that, so I think it was in pretty fine form. I have nothing to compare it to, however, as it was the first time I've had the wine.

| | So if you are decanting this or any other white for that matter do you put the decanter in the fridge w/ top off??? I know whites do not want to be to cold but what's the conventional wisdom here??? | | | |

| | This or any white, I will put in the frig (either in the bottle or a decanter) about an hour before drinking. This way, I start the bottle of a little on the colder side & watch it develop/open up over time... | | | |

| LOL and I thought I was special... As a good Republican, I was in heaven when we stayed in the cottage. George Bush Sr. stuff everywhere :-)
GREAT chard for the price.
