| We had this wine last night as part of a Kistler tasting in Lambertville. This wine didn't disappoint in the least. Though not as complex as the '01 Cuvee Cathleen, it was wide open and showy. Satiny textured with perfumed lily, smoke, and stones to go with the plump citrus fruits and nutty finish. Lots of glycerin here and a medium to full bodied mouthfeel. Wonderful length and still could use another year in the cellar to coalesce. jb Rating 94.

| | Not much to add to the post above. I will also hold as suggested above. | | | |

| In a disappointing showing...
- 2000 Kistler Chardonnay Cuvée Cathleen - USA, California, Sonoma County (5/6/2006)
There was barely anything other than oak and a hint of citrus in this wine. There was no sign of TCA and/or any other damage. It should have been a lot better than this and we were disturbed by this showing. (88 pts.)

This is curious. Could it be over-the-hill already? Wierd!

| | I've encountered a few wines like this... I tend to chock it up to very low levels of TCA, which robs the fruit before showing its ugly head. If there is a better explanation, i'd love to hear it. | | | |

| I can't tell you what was going on but note that I am acutely TCA sensitive. It's kind of a curse but I didn't get any in this wine. Not that it wasn't there but it wasn't detectable by either of us. For Kistler's sake I almost hope it was TCA because if the wine was really over it would be a bad thing.
Also note we did drink the wine so it wasn't bad.

| | That's not the way this wine tastes so if I had to make a long distance diagnosis I'd say lightly corked. | | | |

| Yep, a bummer especially (as I posted in the Drinking Lately-thread) that the bottle the NJ-crew had about 2 years ago was great. And, a very expensive bottle it is.
Perhaps, I will hold my last bottle (for now).

I will attest to this. She can pick out TCA the moment the bottle is pooped.

| I made salmon burgers and had this wine with them last night. Really very good stuff for California Chard. While it doesn't make me think Burgundy, it is intense without being over the top, showed no heat at all and had lots of buttered pears, caramel corn, grilled pineapple and honeysuckle. The acidity was on the low side, so I would suggest drinking this wine pretty soon. All in all, an excellent bottle of Chardonnay.
