Dark garnet, fading edges, clear, bright
Heady, Pinot funk nose that blows off with a little air time. Ever changing in glass throughout it's 1 hour life. soft ripe cherry fruit, cinnamon / anise type spice
fruity palate, blackberry, and cherry dominate. Good structure, really good acidity. This would make an awesome food wine, yet is great enough to drink alone. It's very smooth, and very moody. Profile changes every 10 minutes, quite a thrill to drink. Very good finish, nicely made. Very Good.

I brought back a bottle of the 02 Block 5 from a recent trip to NZ. Would you recommend sitting on this for another year, at least?

Wouldn't hurt it at all to sit on it for a year. Just make sure it's laying down first or you might have to schedule a visit to the ER.

I think it will only improve, and should probably peak in 3-5 years.
