| Pegasus Bay is amongst NZ's top wineries. They are recognised for their Pinot Noir's, Chardonnay's and Rieslings. This wine was certainly not an exception to the continued superior wines that PB produces.
2002 Was an excellent vintage for aromatic style wines in Canterbury. According to the team at Eurowine (the distributors for PB) PB believes this to be the best riesling they have ever produced.
This wine retails for around $30 NZD.
Colour: lime gold nose: lime, mineral and flinty goosebury characters. Hints of sweet apricot (but not Botrytis). Fejoa also evident. Palate: great acids and excellent developed sweet characters. The length of the wine is a little shorter than expected but finish's leaving a wonderful zingy character. Overall: I would agree with PB's summary having tried several consistantly good vintages this one is tops. Reminiscent of a ripe Auslese. 94 on the Jeremy Scale and a B- on the QPR. | | | |
