This small one man operation is an interesting winery. The winery only produces reds (very unusual in NZ) and only Bordeaux varietals and Pinot Noir-no syrah, pinotage, or other varietals.

The wines are often very traditional (old world) but do have good fruit concentration. Cab franc is a specialty and well worth trying should you ever get the chance.

The Basket press Methode used helps the soft extraction of tannins from the skins thus ensuring more rounded and earlier approachable wine.

This wine retails for around $30 NZD.

Colour: Red purple
Nose: Slight savoury notes of leather intergrated with cassis and plum.
The sweet fruit is certainly dominated by these.
Palate: Very dry due to higher acids but still in balance. The finish is impressive with a long lingering sweetness of chocolate.
Overall: A good wine for the dollars, not outstanding but certainly deserved of merit. 87 Points on the Jeremy Scale.
