Another tasting I did two months ago. 100 Riesling tasted and 40 Pinot gris. The two varietals were tasted separately over three days.
General notes to give score, rather than specific notes. I'll put in the NZ price, so you have an idea of USD comparisons. If available in the US and I know it I will state so. Wines selected by availability and what was in the cellar.
Tasted blind with a known Wine Judge and a MW.

Felton Rd Riesling 2002 -Otago
Steely acids, with dominance of wet river stones and lime juice. Incredible acidity dominates the well integrated acids. length and finish impressive. Certainly the outstanding example of the rieslings.
Score: 95 Price- Around $25-30 NZD- very limited unlikely it gets to the US.

Dry River 2001- Martinborough Craighall Vineyard- CULT STATUS
Pineapple, lemon, some light hints of ginger. The nose was lingering and long. The palate structure was lush with forward fruit. The acids kicked dryness in at the right moment. Length and finish beautifully long and elegant. Great stuff.
Score: 95 price: Around $60 NZD- However this is more available outside of NZ than in.

Fromm La Strada Auslese 2000- Marlborough
Very Germanic, exceptional balance and low alcohol, with exquisite length, finese and evervesence. Small amounts of CO2 expression suggest reduction wine making. Lovely sweetness balanced out by good acids. Peach, mango initially dominate, but are quickly followed up by excellent lime notes as the acids come into play.
Score: 92 Price- Around $50 NZD- Unlikely to make it to the US.

Mellness 2002- Canterbury
Initial sweet fruit , particualrly tangerine, orange, lime and pineapple dominate the nose. The palate is much more subtle and complex with evidence of malo-lactic influence coming through, length is medium to long with an abrupt if somewhat forceful finish. Good stuff.
Score: 92 points Price- Around $25 NZD, Will be available in the US next year.

Mt Difficulty Single Vineyard Target Gully Riesling 2002- Otago
This reductive, concentrated wine showed through well. Very balanced on the palate with a dry finish. Length was good, with notes of lime and river stone flavours evident.
Score:89 Price- Around $22 NZD - very limited but may be avialable in the US as Mt Difficulty is targeted to the US market.

Pegasus Bay 2002 - Canterbury
Powerful forward fruit on the nose and palate with balancing acids. Strong lime, pineapple and melon notes evident. Finish goes on for a long time.
Score: 89 Price: About $30 USD- Should available Stateside.

Framingham Classic Riesling 2001 - Marlborough
Nice "wafty" nose. Lemon, grapefruit, lime and pear all displayed on the nose and palate. Structure is good with nice acids giving a lift to the sweeter notes.
Score: 89 Price: About $30 NZD- Shoudl be available in the US

Fidlers Green Waipara Riesling 2002- Waipara
A very complex Riesling with tangerine and ginger spice dominating the nose. The palate was far more complex with hints of apricot (botrytis evidence?), orange peel and some clove notes coming through. Length is good. This is very "honest" Riesling showing good intergrity of varietal in my mind.
Score: 87 Price: Around $22 NZD Could be available in Boutique/Specialist wine shops Stateside.

Mt Difficulty Dry Riesling 2001-Otago
The nose was not as aromatic as some but displayed subtle notes of lemon, some grapefruit, and minerals. The palate displayed searing drying acids that dominated what sweet fruit showed through. Small amounts of confectionary sweetness and pineapple came through.
Score: 87 Price : around $30 NZD - see above about US availability.

Chard Farm 2001-Otago
Very austere wine with dry flinty notes dominated on the palate by powerful forward acids. This wine needs time.
Score: 87 Price: About $20 NZD - Might be available, can't gaurantee it though.

Martinbrough Vineayrd Jackson Block 2002
This mediumly concentrated Riesling showed good spritzy notes , excellent flavour concentration on the palate. Quite delicate flavours exhibited with a very lingering and soft finish.
Score: 87 Price: About $25 NZD- Should be available.

In the 86-80 Point range
Culley Marlborough 2002- 86
Waipara Hills Dry 2002- 86
Mud House 2002- 85
Voss Estate 2002- 84
Giesen 2002- 84
Babich 2002- 83
Lawsons Dry Hills 2002- 82

Pinot Gris to follow.
