| 2002 Dry River Syrah. Lovat Vineyard, Martinborough, New Zealand. 13.5% alcohol. $60. Deeply colored with burgeoning complex aromas of black pepper, coffee, licorice, blackberry, and a touch of plum. High toned fruit and pepper on the palate. Slightly tart acidity with moderate tannin. After a day of airing, the wine became much more suave and plush in the mouth. A New World Syrah that presents like a Cote Rotie. Drink 2009 to 2014. 91+ points. | | | |
