$17

Light pale gold color, thin bespeckled legs.

This wine had a pretty explosive nose of lemon, citrus blossom and tropical fruits. This was followed by more of the same when sipped. As the wine warmed a little in my glass, other undertones of kiwi and lime emerged. This was a nice pairing with an impromptu scampi I whipped up.

I'd rate this 89-90 points.

Thanks for the TN. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2001 version--about the same, qualitywise. Definitely a solid producer.

I've had the 2002 twice and found the two bottles varied greatly. The first I'd give a 92 and the second an 87.

I agree with TJ's notes. The bottle I opened had an explosive nose of citrus fruit, gripping acidity, and a topical nuance. It was much better then a 2001 Martinelli SB. I rated it at 90-91 pts

Had it last night and it was just wonderful. Lush, fruity with a hint of acidity.

Also had the Oyster Bay for even less.

I got the '00 Monbousquet for $75. $109 seems a little high to me, even at this late stage in the game.

Yes the Monbosquet is rather high (that's why I passed)...for Costco. Down the street from Costco I went into a wine store and here is sticker shock:

00 Latour $499 (they had it at Costco for $299 which I thought was high)
00 Ducru $199

Come on now retailers, what the heck are you thinking. In a down economy raise the prices...yeah that's the ticket.

I had Ducru 00 at about $170 USD and Lafite 00 at about $300 USD.
