Ohh, I see what the 2 of you are saying: give a try this one & not all 99% cocoa taste as raw. OK, I am game, I have a good Web Site for dark chocolate. Next order, I will include this with the order.

This specific producer and bar: michel cluizel - noir infini

Make sure it is room temperature first. If you moist cool storage it needs to warm up first. Slow is better with this chocolate.

Never heard of "You go too slow, you don't go" but now I have.

Has anyone ordered from worldwidechocolate.com? I want to make an order.

Umm, I will drop the subject BellaDonna @ this point.

I've wanted to order from them a few times, but never got around to it. They do have a great selection, that's for sure.

I ordered some Michel Cluizel squares (50% and 66) and some Domori bars from them. Hope it makes it here in good condition.

The chocolate that I ordered on worldwidechocolate.com (or something like that) arrived yesterday, after sitting 1 whole day in a UPS warehouse in 70 degree weather. All of the chocolate arrived in "solid" condition. However, I was disappointed at two things:

1. I was charged $10 to ship less than 2 pounds by UPS Ground
2. The Michel Cluizel squares came in a little cellophane bag closed with a twisty tie. A little cheap looking for me. That got me wondering if the chocolate was authentic or not. What I am assuming this company does is that they ordered boxes (or some sort of large quantity of the squares) and package the squares themselves...but still, it was cheap looking.

The Domori bars were fine. All came in their original packaging.

Interesting thoughts & points, BellaDonna. Thanks! I am getting ready to put an order together from that site myself. The selection is tremendous.

I will call them in advance. I WANT the original packaging on anything I order. And, the more you order the less you will pay for S/H, I see on their site.

When you pay $4.00-$9.00 per chocolate bar, it better be in its original packaging & excellent shape, that's all I have to say about that. Thanks for pointing that out, I will for sure talk to them & make sure whatever it is I order it is in the original packaging.

TBird & BellaDonna: You ever get the feeling that we are talking to ourselves here. It's a conversation between the 3 of us & about 150 posts. I guess no one else here appreciates/likes dark chocolate.

I know that Mark Neal is a huge dark chocolate lover. I've talked to him about it. But, he probably does not check this thread.

lcc,
When I say that it's not in original packaging, I mean there was no box. When I bought my sampler set of mini squares of Michel Cluizel from Wally's Wine in LA, it came in a candy box (like the ones you get when you purchase a box of candy from the grocery store.)

My mini squares still had the Michel Cluizel paper wrapping over the foil...if it came across that I got "naked" squares, that is not the case.

Example!

BellaDonna: for example, if I order a bar such as this, is it going to be packed as shown in that type of an original packaging?

TBird: I also have that one, I bought it @ Neuhaus. I bet you bought it there also. It was not cheap & I am looking forward to it.

Well, I for one also like dark chocolate but haven't invested the time yet in learning all the different varieties and producers. Recently, we've been munching on whichever dark chocolate I bring home from Whole Foods plus finishing off a 57 square box of Valrhona Guanaja (70%) I picked up a couple of months ago at the Charles de Gaulle airport.

For what it's worth, I love dark chocolate and a glass of young ruby port.

I love dark chocolates and always have a bar or two around for nibbling on.
A good, easy to find and inexpensive option is the Newman's Own Organic
I like the Sweet Dark Chocolate Orange

Very nice wineaux & kpak. We welcome you to the Dark Chocolate Slut Club with open arms!

And, remember another bonus besides the fact that dark chocolate rules: dark chocolate is good for you (in moderate amounts) & all natural (ingredients) from most of the fine producers.

None of that garbage/poisons that you find in those candy bar makers. Yack.

Tonight: Neuhaus Dark Chocolate 73% cocoa. Its OK, nothing to write home about or on the Internet (among Web-friends). Good quality cocoa but the bittersweet part of the bittersweet chocolate overwhelms the sweet part of the chocolate.

Passable, but better quality out there for the old dollar. I do like the cocoa presence/dominance usually, but not in this case.

I find that not everything from Neuhaus is to my taste: some products I absolutely love & some of their products do nothing for me.

Bella: I am about to place a huge order with World Wide Chocolate. I will post how it goes (i.e. packaging, cust service, prices, etc…).

Tonight - a couple of small pieces off a block of Valrhona Manjari (64%) purchased at Whole Foods for $15.99/lb. Quite good and while I'm no good at all at chocolate TNs, its has a slightly tart/bitter element to it that my wife and I like that distinguishes it from the nutty favor found in the Valrhona Guanaja.

i've preached the gospel of jacque torres hot chocolate, and also gave mariebelle thumbs up, but on a recent visit to mariebelle, discovered hot chocolate that can't be beat. jacques' is good, but mariebelle gets in there with 65 & 73% hot chocolate drink, either european(water) or american(milk). HIGHLY recommended. mariebelle.

lcc, i am starting to agree that neuhaus is pretty "neutral". definately high quality, but not quite worth the price point(given that jacque, michel, marie, etc, are ALL cheaper by a few bucks).
