I'm making a peanut, curry chicken soup. I've got a German riesling ready but I'd like to try a red too.

Any suggestions?

This may sound odd, but I find that Pinot goes well with curry, as long as it's not spicy hot.

When I was in Thailand I had good success matching Syrah to Thai cuisine. The Khao Yai Reserve Shiraz (raised in a blend of American and French oak) from Thailand was a surprisingly good match with Northern Thai cuisine especially.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think the guests would go for Pinot. Not any of the ones that I was willing to share anyway, As it turns out, I sent one of the guests down to pick a syrah from the cellar but what he brought back and opened was actually a Petit Sirah.

Not a bad pairing, but not one I would repeat. Rather like the clash of the titans.
