| This is the Itallian (Catholic) tradition of "The Feast of the Seven Fishes". I will be hosting this dinner, as I do most years. Who else has this family tradition, and what do you serve?
I will make it easy this year. Oysters Rock. Seafood Stew Zuppa di Piesce
Normally the meal would be more traditional
Salt Cod, Fried Eel, Fried Smelts, Octopus in Garlic, mussels in red sauce, clams with pancetta, shrimp scampi - but that's a ton of work (the cod takes me three days) Not to mention most people don't like half of these dishes! | | |

| I count four fishes (sic) and four shell fishes. That makes eight fishes
Or is your last name Fishes and there are seven of you?

| My friend Nancy who sings with me in church does this also. Based on what she's told me, I think seven is the MINIMUM number, not an exact one. This may explain TCK's adventures in mathematics. | | | |

| The only tradition in our household for Christmas Eve is that there is no meat consumed. Pasta, fish, vegetables, etc. No set amount of courses, but there's definitely a lot of food. | | | |

| Traditionally seven is "the" number. The reason is that there were seven gifts from the holy spirit, it was a seven day trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem and 7 of the apostles were fishermen. | | | |

| David, normally it's Cod, Eel, smelts, Octopus, mussels, clams, and shrimp - that's 7 They would traditionally be served as 7 diffrent courses. This year it will be seven Fish in three courses | | | |

| When I was a kid the wine would be one of those Chinatis in a wicker covered round bottle and a Gallo Jug of white. I think I'll do a little better then that | | | |
