I'm sure you've all heard about the hepatitis A from scallions in Pennsylvania. The scallions came from Mexico. Here's my problem. I want to make an appetizer for Thanksgiving for which raw scallions are a MUST. Are there scallions available that are safe? Maybe organic from the US? Anyone? Buehler? Tia

That's tough. Even the FDA says not to use raw onions (ie I would think you could wash them thoroughly). I'd check with one of your high-end grocers and see if they have anything other than scallions from Mexico. So far the only bulletin is on Mexico scallions.

check with your local whole foods super market. they usually carry local home grown veggies, i mean american organic, not long island onions
