| | Always Italian, by choice. Our friends at Joseph Phelps gave us a few bottles of their oil this week, haven't had it yet. I didn't know they made olive oil. Love the high-end BR Cohn and Darioush. | | | |

| | I saw the BR Cohn EVOO at The Pasta Shop in Oakland this week. I think it was like $25/375ml. I thought that was a bit expensive so I passed. | | | |

| | My brother came back from Italy last summer with a few bottles. That was some good stuff. Of course, to get the same quality here costs a lot more. | | | |

| | Picked up my second case of 2002 Turley over the weekend. This is my "house" olive oil. | | | |

| The guy who showed us around Chianti also sells olive oil every year -- here's alink. I think his prices are quite high, which is why I passed (I was offered a 750ml bottle for I think 50 or 60 euros, or a 3liter tin for 150 euros -- which includes shipping from Italy to the states.

| Not a winery oil, but one of our favorites from Spain:
Hacienda Fuencubierta. Got this through Corti Bros.

Yikes, I've paid $$$ for balsamic vinegar, but not for olive oil. Although I'm sure its probably great, can it be that much better?

Yeah, that is kind of what I was thinking, Corkage. I passed. I think I can get really excellent stuff for less without getting his (quite possibly and even probably) EVOO. | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

Araujo Spottswoode Turley Mitolo (new to the list). I just bought some @ the Wine Library. Very good olive oil. Recommend.

| | I like Turley's (picked up some at Templeton). Have had Jordan in the past and it was horribly over-priced, but I believe they dropped it $10. My favorite was actually from Trentadeu, which I picked up on a lark during barrell tasting. The taste was extraordinary. | | | |

| FYI: Turley is now selling their Olive Oil. You can call & order over the phone. I actually love this olive oil & think it's one of the better made olive oils by vins.
I ordered 2 bottles. | | | |

| I placed an order with Turley to get some olive oil but they didn't want to ship it now, which I'm glad they brought it up because I didn't know that olive oil was affected by heat.
I am looking forward to trying their olive oil.

| Not good to ship in the heat and it is not a great idea to ship in the dead of winter either. I got some olive oil delivered one December and it was frozen. It really didn't hurt it, but it sort of freaked me out when I opened my front door that day!
Think if I lived in Minnesota!!!

I think the name of the winery is Davis -- I'll double check. Anyway, it is in Healdsberg and phenominal.

| | Sorry if this has been asked before...Are these olive oils typically only available winery direct via mailing list or are some available at retail? If at retail, where?! I've never seen some of the ones mentioned in this thread. TIA | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| | I have seen B.H. Cohn (or something like that) sell their olive oil at a large gourmet grocery store called Central Market. | | | |
