| So I am having a dinner party on friday and want to pair wines with each course. I have no clue where to start. I like drinking wines but am not sure how to pair things. Here is my menu and I hope you can give me some advice on what to pair with each course.
Roasted Vegetable soup. (this is made with a red wine, I think I bought a cab)
Osso buco style Halibut served with whipped purple potatoes and sauted green beans
Lamb kebabs with a yogurt sauce served with rice pilaf and asparagus
Pear vanilla brown butter crisp with vanilla ice cream
Any advice I could get would be very valuble to me. I am sending my husband to buy wine tomorrow and don't know exactly what to tell him to get. Please help. Thanks

Osso buco style Halibut served with whipped purple potatoes and sauted green beans-Chardonnay, but Pinot Noir will also be very nice.
Lamb kebabs with a yogurt sauce served with rice pilaf and asparagus-Any red here. Cab, Merlot or Syrah
Pear vanilla brown butter crisp with vanilla ice cream-A "yellow" or "orange" sweet wine such as Muscat, Moscato, Sauternes. A sparkling Moscato would be nice. Also, a "brown" Australian sweet wine like a Buller Tokay.
Ultimately, the best advice is to drink what you like. "Perfect" pairings are illusive, and most wine gets consumed over conversation, and not as a way to wash down food.
