| Finding some good stuff at the Farmer's Market lately. Anyone else? Wonderful patty pan squash, and some purple string beans that were awesome. Also fabulous snow white turnips so sweet he's calling them snow apples!
Taking advantage while we can - the season is incredibly short.
I envy you lower 48ers right now with the sweet corn and vine ripened tomatoes.

Yup, from my backyard deck. Yummmayy! Of course my tomatoes are almost dead from the heat. We will re-plant this week to get our fall crop before the cold weather comes in.

| | From a good friend's farm surrounding his business warehouse: blueberries, basil, eggplant, squash, zucchini, red potatoes, tomatoes, green peppers and other peppers, okra, field peas, flowers and I'm sure I've forgotten other produce. It's been fun. I supplement all of this with home-grown rosemary, thyme, cilantro and more basil; the rosemary and thyme go year-around. | | | |

| "Yup, from my backyard deck". YEP, but unfortunately, I only have 3-4 months to do so here in the East. I plant the garden in April. And, by late Sept everything dies. :-(
"Locally grown" sure beats for instance "imported from Chile or Equador" for heaven's sake. But, here in the East the season is too damn short. :-(

| | Just finished reading "Animal, Mineral, Miracle" a great book about one family's quest to eat locally for a year. Great reading and it will make you think twice about buying strawberries in February.... | | | |
