| With the temps in the DC area approaching 100 degrees today and supposedly even warmer tomorrow, I've been talking to Mrs. T about our getting an ice cream/sorbet maker. We've never had one but it would definitely get some use during this fantastic (?) weather. We don't want to spend a boatload of money...perhaps something in the $100-$125 range. Any suggestions out there in Ben and Jerry land?? And what are some of the more interesting flavors made by you all?
TIA, T-Rep | | |

| The best sorbet I have EVER had was at the Moet Henessy vintner's dinner at the NOWFE. If we have the Vinocellar South offline at the Bourbon House, I will definitely get them to make it for us.
They had a Pomegranite Kir Royale sorbet that was absolutely out of this world. I love sorbet and enjoy it often, but this was, by far, the best sorbet I've tasted. The tartness of the pomegranite juice combined with a the tiniest bit of lime juice, champagne, a dash of vodka, and, of course, the currant juice ( though, not creme de cassis ) made for a tart, sweet, virtually perfect sorbet. I've been dying to buy a sorbet maker ever since so that I can try to reproduce that wonderful icy treat. Highly recommended if you can find the fresh pomegranite and currant juice, or a suitable alternative.
It is also difficult to get the texture absolutely perfect. I like mine smooth, but with just a hint of the crunchy icy crystals. I don't like is when people use egg whites or other ways to smooth out the texture like ice cream.
