Grant Burge '98 The Holy Trinity ($25)
Barossa Valley

The Holy Trinity refers to the blend of Grenache (43%), Shiraz (39%) and Mourvedre (18%) that goes in the blend. This is my second bottle of this, and it is consistent with my first bottle I tried a few months back. The wine displayed a light magneta/purple color, and demonstrated little aromatics, save for some spice, metal and weak fruit characteristics. On the palate, it was utterly unremarkable - wine unworthy of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. A blasphemous 82pts. This should be a $10 wine, and even then I would not purchase it.

Thanks for the heads up. I have had several of the ’97 GB Holy Trinity and they have been consistently very good. I will stay away from this vintage.

I very much enjoyed the bottle of this wine I had - high eighties. Were both of the bottles you had purchased from the same source?

Yes Jones, they have all been from the same source. 2 out of 3 have been consistently flat and uninspiring. I'm not holding my breath for the 3 rd bottle either.

jaimetown, Sounds like bad transportation or storage before you bought -or something. I've had this vintage, and the two previous, and all were very good.
